Pete has been producing / mixing & mastering records for over 25 years. In that time he has worked on countless albums, across all genres. Pete started Black Bay Studio in 2016 to fulfil his life-long dream to have a residential studio in a truly remote setting with no compromise on space or sonics.

Pete’s calmness and assuredness on what the project needs to get to - both in terms of the sound, the performance, and the feeling of a record - is what makes artists keep returning to our studio. Pete has an expertise in recording acoustic and electric instruments alike, with a specific specialty in drum & guitar sounds. Coming from a Post Rock / Electronic Music background means that when a song needs a little bit of ambience or tension, Pete has plenty tricks up his sleeve.

Cal has been making records in Black Bay for four years, working on over 70 sessions in that time. Working on everything that has come through the studio since then, Cal is well seasoned in making a project work smoothly and quickly.  He’s expereinced and confident at quietly fitting in to any group of personalities, and understands the dynamics of bands and teams, and is always positive and calm. He’s worked closely with dozens of top producers and is an exceptional, and fast, Pro Tools operator with a great musical ear. Cal carries a lot of weight in a session, allowing you to focus on your creativity and has a in depth knowledge of the equipment and spaces, he can get any sound you’re after quickly and with a creative ear.

COSMO FLETCHER

Assistant Engineer / Artist Liasson / Dog

Cosmo has been working in Black Bay since its inception in 2016. Her relaxed attitude really makes her a great asset to any session. She’s used to artists and loves to contribute in whatever way she can.

She usually makes an appearance at least a couple of times a session, however she is always happy to have the week off if folk have allergies or are strictly cat people, she always has plenty file prep to do at home.
